The Smiths

The Smiths:

Jeez. I was on Spotify the other day and decided to create a “college era” music list. The Smiths came up and I was amazed. The Queen Is Dead? The hell he is. At least not in 1987. Morrisey’s insanely random melodies dropped onto Johnny Marr’s riffs and jingle-jangle chords and Andy Rourke’s bass lines were like a waterfall over me. I had completely forgotten how incredibly skilled, innovative and humorous The Smiths really were. In a way, they were the REM of the UK. They came out of nowhere and sounded like nobody around at the time. Brilliant.
